If it looks good, shoot it

A commercial shoot to promote the X Games has moved to A-Basin because there's so little snow in Aspen. That's a shot today at Snowmass, above.

What ya gonna do?

Surely by the time the X Games hit Aspen (Jan. 24-27) there'll be plenty of the white stuff.

At least we kept it in state. And let's hope this week's storm dumps what the weather watchers say it will.

Fresh snow on the way?

The weather's turning again and I'm hearing the s-word. Could it be a slammin' last day for Echo and Loveland? Great spring skiing at A-Basin? Here's what's happening this weekend at...

A-Basin: 4th Annual Huck, Rock & Roll Terrain Park Competition on Saturday, 10 a.m. till it's done. Register 8 to 9:30 a.m. $10 gets you in AND you take home a swag bag. There's also a free concert by New Dialectic's on the ticket office steps from 1 to 4 p.m.


Echo Mountain Park (closes Sunday): End-Of-Season Pro Series Camp, for all abilities, Saturday and Sunday. Pro riders include Jeff Meyer, Pat Milbery, James Frederick and the Never Summer team.

Loveland: Closing Day Party on Sunday with live music from Arnie J Green.

Mixed bag on Barr

Here's a look at Barr Trail earlier this week. Gaz photog Christian Murdock snapped it. He spent the night as guest caretaker for Neal and Teresa. I posted earlier that Barr Camp has received 205 inches of snow since, oh, October.

Dumping on the peak

Gazette photog Christian Murdock spent the night filling in for Neal and Teresa at Barr Camp. (Just beat the downpour.)

The camp had received 205 inches of snow as of this morning. Do I hear a boo-yah!?

Last week's storm dropped 17 inches. Look for pix in the a.m.

He says the trail is in great shape up to the 1/2-mile mark before Barr. (Knew I shoulda headed that way Sunday!)

Give us your snow, your slush, your driving rain

Oh boy! It was inches of slush at my house in Manitou this morning, but the cars coming down the pass - ever so carefully - were topped six a good 5 inches of snow. Now they're saying Woodland Park has 8 inches (Zen, Deb, Jody, can you dig out up there?), and a foot in Monument.

What's up OT readers? Dave is ready to ski the peak. As soon as the freaking wind dies down.

Don't put the skis/board away

It's gray here, but it's white on the slopes.

A-Basin, Aspen Highlands, Copper, Eldora and Keystone report 3-4 inches of snow in the last 24 hours.

Aspen Mountain, Breckenridge, Vail and Winter Park report 4.5-5 inches.

Beaver Creek, Loveland and Snowmass report 6-7 inches.

Dave's at Breck today. Maybe we'll get a report in a bit about what that really means for conditions. But Colorado can boast great spring skiing, so put away the extra layers, but don't put away the rest of your gear. Get out there.
