Another example of fake Rockies

I see it in adds all the time -- even adds that promote tourism in Colorado -- fake Rockies.  And by that I mean, other mountain ranges being passed off as our own.  Most recent example, from a gas station on Ute Pass.  Here we see what I believe to be Mount Raineer, behind an add saying Coors is so good because it's brewed with "pure Rocky Mountain spring water."  Why couldn't they have called up John Fielder and used a picture of Sneffels?

Have other fake Rockies examples?  Post a link below.

Doesn't look like Rainier to me. Volcanoes aren't flat: http://www.ougsnw.org.uk/photo_gallery/images/Mount%20Rainier%20large.jpg

I should have put in a larger pic. Suffice to say it is clearly a glaciated peak rising out of a very lush forest.

What, like we don't have any glaciers in the Rockiess? What are you, one of those global warming nutcases?!

That actually does look like Rainer from the south. I have a very similar picture by that lake. To me, it looks like the Coors folks stretched it a bit. The slopes and peaks match up when stretched, flattened.

I agree with Gaylord. And no, the Colorado Rockies don't have any glaciers other than a few dirty "drift" glaciers in RMNP.

There are more glaciers than you think. There's a glacier down in the Huerfano Valley in the north side of Blanca & Ellingwood. Sure it's no Alaskan, Canadian or Northwestern glacier. But it is one of the southernmost glaciers in the northern hemisphere.

I remember when I first moved to Golden in 1994 all my out of state friends thought I was the luckiest guy on planet earth because they had all seen Pete Coors "Somewhere ear Golden, CO" in the television ads. They all wanted to know if I lived near the waterfall on the Coors bottle label.

If you've ever been to Golden (cool town as it is) you know it's no Coors ad.

BTW I have heard that waterfall is modeled after a real falls in Yankee Boy Basin, and that "somewhere near Golden, CO" in the ads was somewhere off Berthoud Pass.

Golden is plenty purty.

I know some of the Coors adds were filmed on Ute Pass north of Silverthorn, with Gore Range in the background. The mountain on the can is Wilson Peak.

I've heard two possibilities for the location of the waterfall:1. Fish Creek Falls near Steamboat Springs and 2. Marble Falls in the Crystal Valley.

On the tour of the brewery the guide said it was Fish Creek Falls, but it would have to be from a year with heavy snow run off.
