The hot ski this year...

While I love to ski, I don't know much about the darn things. Other guys can pick them up in the store, look at the edges, heft them, do that flexy-thing against the floor and at least appear to get something out of it. Not me. So I go with what people say, and people say Black Diamond is making some really sick skis, particularly the BD Verdict, which just won "Gear of the Year" from Outside and was named a "Killer Value" by Skiing Magazine. Not only that, the guys at local Black Diamond retailer Mountain Chalet have been talking up this super-light, all-around ski since last winter.
This is a ski that excels in and out of bounds. I'm trying to figure out how I can try a pair out.

Remember there is nothing you can do in a store to be able to tell what a ski is going to be like, the little flexy thing really only tells you that you are strong, and that, yep, the ski is designed to flex. For your knowledge Dave, the ski does rock skied it last year in a little different prototype. snappy wood core is where it's at, (as long as they kept it that way)

Did the Chalet crew say it will be in the demo fleet? They usually have the floor models for rent and at $25 a trip it is cheaper than buying them for $600 + $150 for bindings.

When I was young, we ski'd with 12 foot long 2x4's strapped to our leathers with cat gut & we liked it. We still do uh huh.

Don't know if they'll be available for demo. Give 'em a call.
