Protect raptor nests

More bird news - but it's Colorado bird news.

Officials at Rocky Mountain National Park have temporarily closed areas in Lumpy Ridge and Sheep
Mountain areas to protect raptor nesting sites.

Areas will be closed through July 31 - give or take. They'll open earlier or remain closed later based on raptor behavior.

Closures include Checkerboard Rock, Lightning Rock, Batman Rock, Batman Pinnacle, Thunder Buttress, The Parish, Alligator Rock, Sheep Mountain, Deer Ridge Buttress and Twin Owls, and Rock One - and areas within 100 yards in all directions. The perimeter around Alligator Rock extends for 200 yards in all directions.
