Blizzard kept Texans away from slopes

Seriously.
According to the Associated Press, a Methodist youth group from Flower Mound, Texas bound for the ski slopes of Colorado was stranded in the blizzard that clobbered southeastern Colorado last Friday. They had to be rescued by the National Guard when their bus became stuck near Springfield.
This is just one incident that was reported but over the last two weeks or so there must have been thousands like it. People who tried to fly in and couldn't. People who tried to drive and never made it; or people who simply saw what the roads and airports were like and decided to stay home.

I haven't heard how storms effected skier numbers, but anectodally, mountain locals have told me the holiday season didn't seem quite as crazy as usual.

Oh, by the way, if you'd like to make jokes about the church ski group from Texas, do so below.
