What? You missed Colorado Day? Don't despair. In honor of that day (it was Aug. 1), admission fees to all Colorado State Parks will be waived on Monday.
Colorado Day commemorates our state being accepted into the union. What better way to celebrate that than with a visit to a park, for free?
There are 41 state parks in Colorado, not including the newest one, our very own Cheyenne Mountain, that is finally set to open Oct. 21. That new park features 18 miles of trails and 62 camping sites.
On Monday, we suggest a visit to one of our closest parks: Elevenmile, with miles of hidden coves; Mueller, where hikes reveal hidden ponds and rock formations, or Castlewood Canyon, with a rim hike unrivaled in the area.
