I met a couple of Brits today on the chairlift at Breckenridge who just couldn't stop talking about how polite Colorado skiers were. In Europe, they said, resort employees who run lift lines act like they are herding cattle. "It's a free-for-all there," one said.
By the way, the couple, who flew 29 hours to get here (with stops in Amsterdam and Nashville), said they're coming back, but they'll spring for a more-direct route next time.

I've had many Europeans remark about how politely Americans stand in line. Remember all that walking up and down the halls in line you did in elementary school? Remember how much trouble you got in for cutting? It pays off. Ah, the republic.
