If a tree falls in the woods.... watch the F*%# out!

Two hikers in Rocky Mountain National Park were clobbered by a tree yesterday that was uprooted by50 mph Chinook winds. One of the hikers, both from Boulder, died. Here's the story.

I was stuck in a serious blowdown event in the Adirondacks once. It's pretty scary. Dodging a falling tree is harder than it sounds.

You were caught in that blowdown in the dacks in July of 1995? Crazy! So was I. Was camping with my wife and dog at 13th Lake.

Sad story, with all the standing dead from the pine beatle it's going to get scary.

When your number's up its time to go. Just like the story of the couple killed by the falling slab of rock at Lake Powell this summer. Bolt out of the blue unexplainable stuff. But at least you have an interesting story to tell on the other side.

I lived there and saw lot of blown down trees, but I sadly missed out on calling them the 'Dacks. Well, it was the 80s.
