I heard bits of this coming in and out of meetings earlier today. News side reports:
Rescue teams made their way this afternoon to an injured paraglider stuck on Mount Herman west of Monument.
About 11:30 a.m. today authorities got a call about a man in a yellow glider stuck on a rocky outcropping about three-quarters of the way up Mount Herman’s east side, said Capt. John Vincent of the Tri-Lakes Fire Protection District.
A Memorial Hospital helicopter located the man, who gave crews a thumbs up sign while walking around, apparently looking for his equipment, Vincent said. Crews decided to call off the rescue, but then the stuck man radioed his partner and said he needed help getting down the mountain, Vincent said.
The man is injured, but it is uncertain whether he’ll have to be airlifted off the mountain.

Sounds like they're bringing him off the mountain, but I can't tell whether by helicopter or litter.
I just talked to a waiter at the Red Lobster in El Cajon, CA. Said he was from Colorado Springs but there wasn't much for guys his age (early 20's) to do there. I replied, "then you must not be into outdoor activites - mountain biking, skiing, hiking, "hang-gliding"
He couldn't find anything to do here so he moved to El Cajon?!?!?
Once again, a PARAGLIDER crashes, and its reported as a hang gliding accident *sigh*
So, the guy's apparently in pretty good shape after a gust blew him in Mount Herman.
The paraglider, Dan O’Sullivan Jr., 24, said he remembered little of the crash. He was scraped and cut and, it seems, OK after county Search and Rescue helped him down.
Funny how things work, I was just getting ready to do a story on local paragliders and their favorite launch spots.
It's the landing spots that you need to look out for.
