Weather on Pikes Peak

With the Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon just days away, we're getting a clearer picture of what the weather will be like for the thousands of people who will be running/walking/swearing up the peak. Up high, we're looking at a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms and a high of 54 degrees. That means it will probably get pretty nasty, if the last few years are any indication. Expect hail and cold, probably lightning, any time after about 11 a.m. I may not happen, but who knows? Dress accordingly.
Here are pics from 10 a.m. Thursday on the summit

P.S. The last pic is the finish line of the Ascent. It is a swampy, slushy creek right now.

I'd been meaning to ask Dave all afternoon about the conditions on the peak today. I saw a dusting of snow above treeline while driving home last night.

Gaz photog Christian Murdock held down the fort at Barr Camp last night. It was chilly. Warmed up right quick, he said, when about 100 soldiers from Fort Carson dropped by. Hooah!

Wasn't the race stopped two years ago after a severe storm rolled in?
Good luck to all you racers I hope you finish before the rough stuff comes in.
