Speaking of driving
In a sad footnote to an untimely death, a CHP investigation has revealed that Michael Corvino, president of JanSport backpack company, was drunk when he crashed his car July 14 in Danville, Calif., killing himself and injuring his 16-year-old daughter and a teenage boy. Toxicology tests show that Corvino's blood-alcohol level was 0.21 percent, almost three times the California legal limit of 0.08 percent, when he lost control of his 1970 Dodge Charger and struck a tree near his Danville home at 5:30 p.m. The report also found that none of the three people in the car was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
