Ski areas busy as ever

Colorado Ski Country USA announced today its 26 member resorts are seeing about the same number of skiers as last year, but are aiming to beef up end-of-season visits.

In total, Colorado ski resorts have hosted 8,487,943 skiers and snowboarders, an increase of 119,271 visits, over the same timeframe in 2005-06 (Oct. 13-Feb. 28).

Last year set a record: 12.5 million skiers and snowboarders. Who knows what we'll hit if the snow holds.

(A "skier visit" represents a person skiing or snowboarding for any part of one day at a mountain resort.)
