Celebs rescued in Aspen

Don't know how we missed this, but...

Apparently the Aspen Ski Patrol had to come to the rescue of actors Rob Morrow, Chad Lowe and Fisher Stevens when they got lost in snow and fog and ended up out of bounds. ''We're all good skiers,'' said Morrow, star of ''Numb3rs,'' but he admitted they didn't know the mountain. ''We were going every which way.''

They ended up with another group of lost skiers, who had called for help on their cell phone. All were in an area closed to skiing. The patrollers decided to lead the pack to the bottom of the mountain, a three-hour trip through heavy snow, streams, and thick forest.

''It ended up being great because it was a good adventure,'' said Morrow, who previously starred in ''Northern Exposure.'' The patrollers had plenty of food and once the group felt safe they enjoyed the experience.

The AP didn't report whether the wealthy skiers offered to pay costs of the rescue.

I'll tell you where. Someplace warm. A place where the beer flows like wine. Where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I'm talking about a little place called where those B-listers got lost.

Clark, if they were 'out of bounds' they most certainly did not pay for the rescue!

For most ski areas, if a party is out of bounds yet easily accessible, ski patrol will go and get them without charging. On the other hand, if the rescue draws resources away from the ski area or happens outside of normal operating hours, it is the discretion of the ski area whether or not to charge, or even to conduct a rescue at all.

In other areas, out of bounds rescues are turned over to local Search and Rescue authorities (usually the local Sheriff).

The cost of the lift ticket ONLY covers in-bounds rescue and assistance.

Yea, right Alec Baldwin..hmmm?

I sure hope they tipped the rescue patrol.

Speaking of Rescue, if you ride a motorcycle the Colorado Springs Touring Club is sponsoring their 19th Annual Poker Run on May 20th. Registration from 8am to 10am. Start and finish is at Disabled American Veterans Hall at 6880 East Palmer Park Blvd.

All proceeds benefit El Paso County Search and Rescue Squad.

I'm not a member of this club, but I did it last year and it was lots of fun and goes to a great cause.
