Man survives plunge into canyon
If you've ever visited the Black Canyon of the Gunnison and marveled at the steep canyon walls, you'll be amazed at this story: A tourist from Chicago drove off the road at the Tomichi Point overlook Monday afternoon and his car plunged 400 feet down into a ravine. The amazing part: He survived, with just bruises. Take note: he was driving a rental car - a 2007 Kia Optima. Those on the rescue operation say the car's airbags and seat belt saved him. The driver isn't talking, and authorities are trying to determine if the crash was accidental, according to the Montrose Daily Press.
