The award for best rapper should go to the Northern Flicker. This cavity-nesting bird chills in Colorado all winter, but at the start of spring, males stake out their territory by rapping their beaks on any surface that will make a lot of noise. Metal roof flashing seems to be popular. Anyway, I heard this homeboy rapping on my neighbor's roof this morning. Is spring coming? Yes, but so is more snow, by tomorrow morning. Word is bond.
