Serious snow on Pikes Peak

We were curious about conditions on Barr Trail above Barr Camp, so we went to a reliable source: Craig Burbank, a race walker who has reached the summit of Pikes Peak more than 450 times in the past seven years. Burbank is a dedicated walker who isn't usually deterred by a little bad weather. But he went up the mountain on New Year's Eve and only made it to the 11,800-foot level. Burbank says he turned around after encountering long stretches of knee-deep snow. He hasn't given up, though - he plans to try a summit bid this weekend unless another storm moves in.

450 times!! That makes me a real slacker. Every summer my husband and I keep saying we want to do it and we haven't yet.
