It's official: A Basin expanding

Arapahoe Basin will add 395 acres of terrain in Montezuma Bowl in 2007-2008, after getting the expansion approved by the forest service Nov. 30, according to the Denver Post.

The move almost doubles the size of this ski hill, known for its long season and killer steeps.

Good for A Basin skiers, but no so good for local backcountry skiers who have long used the bowl for human-powered skiing. But as Lou Dawson points out on his blog, there are plenty of other places.
