If yiou've got your Gems card and were planning on using it this weekend at Ski Cooper, think again. The little resort near Leadville won't be open for Thanksgiving weekend. Cooper doesn't have snow-making equipment, and there's not enough of the natural stuff on the ground there for a proper opening.
But these Gems resorts are open: Loveland, A-Basin and Monarch.
If you don't have a Gems card, get one. It gives you free days or discounts at eight ski resorts. Go to www.coloradoski.com and click on Gems.
