No, we do not plan to use more stories from the wire. Sure, you can squeeze more AP stories in a paper, but why would you want to?
If you have an example of a 100,000-circ. paper that is doing a better job of covering a metro area our size, please share it. There's no sense trying to reinvent the wheel if someone has if figured out.
To all of my friends who are Out There... After 20 years at the Gazette, in which I created the Out There section, the Front Range map and Happy Trails book series, I'm out there, literally. I hope to see some of you on the trails. And please stay in touch... my e-mail address is dlacord@aol.com
Deb, We've come to know you and the outdoors through your great writing over the years. Thanks for your many contributions to our community. Cheers, Bill
Deb, I am so sorry to hear you got layed off. They don't know what they're doing! I love reading the Out There and have clipped many Happy Trails. Those are great ideas you brought to the newspaper and very useful. I hope to see you out there on the trails. My family and I are wanting to hike & bike more this summer.
Deb, I'm really bummed that you won't be at the Gazette any more. Thanks for doing the great articles last summer on my RAAM attempt. Crazy ultra cyclists don't get much coverage.
I cannot believe that they layed off "Gear Girl" . What are "they" thinking? Surely there is some other "management" layer that they could more easily shed.
Hi, Deb: You and I have more in common than you've ever imagined. I worked with you for 11 years and I know what it's like to pull the load. What the Gazette did to you is awful. But you can survive it. Since 1999, I've been through the same thing -- THREE TIMES! Hang in there, my friend. Would enjoy hearing from you. Rick Ansorge

What? Less staff and more AP articles? Do you think you can squeeze more AP articles in a paper?
Yeah, the Gazette is pretty pathetic to start...hopefully some other paper steps in and provides something more 'Colorado Springs'.

Dave, Dena, Deb - 3D.
Have you survived?
Ditto Zen's concern. Pls let your community know.
Dave and I are still here.
We hope to have more to say later.
Will check in with Deb soonest. It's up to her.
Ditto all above concerns. Colorado is an "outdoor" state and what you write about is definitely news I like to read about.
I'm sorry to hear that layoffs has now hit the Gazette. We buy the Gazette for the local news it writes about and I sure hope that doesn't change.

So sorry to see you go, Deb. Rat bastards! Time to pick up the phone and give the CS Indy a call, huh?
