An inside source says Breck's new Imperial Express lift to the 12,840-summit of Peak 8 will quietly open this Sunday. The Sunday after Thanksgiving is traditionally slow, so opening the lift that day will give the locals a day to enjoy it (and uncover any snafus) before the next big weekend.
It will also give the year's first access to hundreds of acres of above-treeline bowls that could be epic.
