I'm off Friday to do the Elk Mountains Grand Traverse -- a 40-mile backcountry ski race from Crested Butte to Aspen. Last year my teamate and I did pretty well. We finished in 11 hours, giving us 26th place. This time, we hope to break 9:30 (the course is a little shorter this year because of lack of snow.)I'll let you know Saturday if I make it.
