I finally saw a ringtail last week in a canyon in Utah. I was sitting on the edge of a ruined Anasazi kiva, quietly writing in my journal, and I looked up to see one of these reclusive, nocturnal, little guys striding across the ruin. He made no noise and disappeared into a crack at the base of the cliff. Now I just need to see a Mountain Lion and the fabled Manitou Republican and my list will be complete.

Cross one critter off the list of animals I thought I'd never see
I finally saw a ringtail last week in a canyon in Utah. I was sitting on the edge of a ruined Anasazi kiva, quietly writing in my journal, and I looked up to see one of these reclusive, nocturnal, little guys striding across the ruin. He made no noise and disappeared into a crack at the base of the cliff. Now I just need to see a Mountain Lion and the fabled Manitou Republican and my list will be complete.
To me that looks enough like a pine marten that I'd shoot it.
