outdoor skating

A guy just called me and asked if I knew of any outdoor ice skating in the area. He wanted to take his lady friend skating on Valentine's. Anyone know a place?

  1. I don't know of any local ones, but there are several around the state.

Here is an article on outdoor rinks in Fort Collins, Estes Park, Boulder,
    Evergreen and Nederland:

There are outdoor rinks at Keystone, Breck and Vail (or is it Beaver Creek, I can't remember)

    Hopefully this helps,
    Brian

  2. You CAN skate at the little lake at Green Mountain Falls, but I don't know what conditions are like.

There's an outdoor rink - covered, but outdoors - at Meadow Woods Park (I think that's the name) in Woodland Park.

There's outdoor skating in Crested Butte, if you want to make it a two-day affair.

I'm pretty sure you need your own skates for all 3.

  3. From our Almanac:
Ice skating on Fox Run Pond, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, Fox Run Regional Park, Roller Coaster Road and Stella Drive, Black Forest, $1. Hours of operation depend on ice conditions and weather. Call 520-6399.

I've been trying to get Woodland Park Parks & Rec to rent skates for years. We already have the lake (Memorial Park) and the lake house, the views are beautiful, its downtown, and its brings in visitor dollars to a community that otherwise has no winter draw (Evergreen has been very successful in this regard).

This one is a no brainer if you ask me. But alas I have generated no interest in the powers that be. But hey have you seen the brand spanking new Wal-Mart?

There's an outdoor skating rink in Victor. Not exactly close or romantic, but it's there.

Oh, come on, Victor is plenty romantic. You might get lucky in one of those abandoned buildings.
